Artist Biography

Sutopo Ngasiman is an experienced trainer in ceramics handbuilding technique since 2005, Sutopo was an understudy of Singapore’s renown potter Iskandar Jalil since 2001. Graduated in Product and Industrial Design from Temasek Polytechnic in 1999.

Freelanced as a product model maker and an exhibit scuptor, but pursuit a career in ceramics as it proved to be more fulfilling, being able to create and teach the art of ceramics to the public. He is the resident artist in Jalan Bahar Clay Studios since 2007, managed by Focus Ceramics Services. He often conduct ceramics workshops and give tours of the famous Guan Huat Dragon Kiln to individuals, corporate companies, community groups and schools. Sutopo believes there is an artist in everyone, a natural inert ability that can be nurtured given the right environment.
